Black Health Alert: 🚨APOL1-mediated kidney disease (AMKD)

APOL1-mediated kidney disease (AMKD) remains an under-recognized contributor to kidney disease risk among individuals with West and Central African ancestry.Importantly, this includes Africans as well as African Americans, Afro-Caribbean communities, and many Latino populations with African ancestry, underscoring its relevance across both the continent and the broader diaspora. From a public health perspective, this is not solely a lifestyle-driven issue. It reflects a complex intersection of genetics, environment, and gaps in awareness and screening.Increasing visibility and culturally grounded education around AMKD is essential to advancing health equity and informed care. For additional information, see the American Kidney Fund:https://lnkd.in/e_jwVUUahashtag#KidneyDiseasehashtag#BlackHealthhashtag#HealthEquity
