Year 2: Back in the Classroom at GWU
And just like that, I’m heading into Year 2 as adjunct faculty in the George Washington University DrPH program.
We kicked things off with DrPH Immersion, bringing together faculty, guest speakers, and our newest cohort for conversations about what it really looks like to lead in public health. I also had the chance to join a panel and spend time connecting with some pretty incredible colleagues on being a successful student and navigating while working full-time.
One of the things I enjoy most about teaching is bringing the real world into the classroom. My students aren’t just learning theories about leadership, social change, and public health practice. We get to talk about what happens when those theories meet actual organizations, communities, policies, personalities, and politics.
Because public health can get MESSY. And in its current iteration it's at the center of alot! And learning how to navigate that mess is part of becoming an effective DrPH leader.
Looking forward to another semester of good conversations, tough questions, and probably a few moments when Dr. Robinson gets on her soapbox.
Year 2. Let’s get into it.
