Celebrating the Final Stop: HBCU Prep Tour at Spelman with NCNW
Our HBCU Prep Tour recently concluded its final stop at Spelman College, in partnership with the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) and in collaboration with the NMAC PrEP for Her initiative. This tour has been an inspiring journey, connecting with students across campuses, sharing insights, and empowering young Black women to own their health, futures, and leadership potential.
At Spelman, the energy was palpable. From engaging seminars to hands-on workshops, we explored sexual health, self-care, and leadership development, all framed through a lens of empowerment and culturally responsive education. The partnership with NCNW and NMAC PrEP for Her brought added depth, allowing students to connect with mentors and public health leaders who understand both the historic legacy and contemporary challenges of Black women leaders.
This final visit was not just about education, it was about community, visibility, and celebration. Students left equipped with knowledge, practical skills, and resources to make informed decisions about their health and well-being. Seeing their engagement, asking questions, and sharing their aspirations reminded me why initiatives like the HBCU Prep Tour are so critical.
As we close this chapter, my hope is that the connections, conversations, and learnings continue to resonate on each campus. The tour was a testament to the power of intentional engagement, mentorship, and culturally relevant public health education.
If you are a student, mentor, or community member inspired by the HBCU Prep Tour, share your story, tag your campus, or connect with us on social media. Let us keep the momentum going and continue empowering Black women across HBCUs nationwide.
